    Baird CAPA Cup 2nd Annual Pickleball Tournament

    The Baird CAPA Cup is back for its 2nd Annual Tournament, offering CAPA members a fantastic opportunity to gain tournament experience in a fun, supportive environment. This year’s event will take place at the McFarland Park Pickleball Courts.

    Designed exclusively for CAPA members, the tournament will feature a round-robin format leading to an exciting medal round. The top two finishers from the round robin will compete for gold and silver, while the third and fourth place finishers will battle for bronze. This structure ensures maximum playtime and enjoyment for all participants.

    New for this year, the tournament will include special events for players aged 70+ and those competing at the 4.5 level or higher. To add to the excitement, an action photographer will capture the highlights, and referees will oversee the medal games as well as some of the round-robin matches.

    Concessions will be provided by the McFarland Youth Soccer Club, ensuring players and spectators stay refreshed. Net proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, supporting local youth programs.

    As this is an outdoor event, please be aware that rain may lead to modifications or cancellations at the discretion of the Tournament Director. Refunds are available for withdrawals made before August 6th, with a $5 service fee per event non-refundable. If a withdrawal is made without requesting a refund, participants will receive the tournament t-shirt.

    To register for the Baird CAPA Cup tournament, you must first have a PBB account. If you already have an account, be sure to login. If you do not have an account, you can so by clicking “Sign Up” in the upper right corner of the PickleballBrackets.com website.

    Each player will register individually and will select their partner during the registration process. Your partner must have a PBB account to be selected as a partner. Once you register and select your partner, your partner has four days to complete their registration before that spot in the bracket is open again.

    he cost for the tournament is $15 per event plus a $5 non-refundable registration fee.

    Most of the tournament brackets are scheduled to be an 8-team round robin followed by medal matches for the following bracket divisions:
    -Men’s Doubles 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+ (Age: 18* and above)
    -Men’s Doubles 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 (Age: 50 and above)
    -Men’s Doubles 3.5 and under, 4.0 (Age: 70 and above)
    -Women’s Doubles 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+ (Age: 18* and above)
    -Women’s Doubles 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 (Age: 50 and above)
    -Women’s Doubles 3.0, 3.5 and above (Age: 70 and above)

The courts are home to a large open play crowd daily, tournaments like the Baird CAPA Cup and pickleball clinics offered by the McFarland Parks and Recreation Department taught by lead pickleball instructor for the city of McFarland, Blake Lewis.

Proceeds from the tournament will support local youth programs, and a portion will be donated to the Sun Prairie Public Library Expansion Project.
